Workshop Overview

Early identification of infectious diseases is essential to reduce morbidity and mortality. This intensive, free workshop emphasizes that appropriate antimicrobial selection should be based on pathogen, infection site, and patient factors. Because antimicrobial resistance is a major global health threat, rational antibiotic use is required. We believe that multidisciplinary collaboration between physicians, clinical pharmacists, microbiologists, and nurses improves patient outcomes. Furthermore, antimicrobial stewardship programs help optimize therapy and reduce resistance.

Objectives: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the basic principles of infectious diseases and transmission mechanisms.
  • Recognize common hospital and community-acquired infections.
  • Apply appropriate antimicrobial therapy based on clinical guidelines and culture results.
  • Identify strategies to prevent antimicrobial resistance.
  • Appreciate the role of clinical pharmacists in optimizing antimicrobial therapy.
